We understand that making the decision to rehome a bird can be difficult, and we're here to guide and support you through the process. At Mochi's Treehouse, we offer two primary options to help facilitate the transition: surrendering your bird into our care, or managing the rehoming process from home with our assistance. Below, you'll find more information on each option, including requirements and next steps.
By surrendering your bird to Mochi's Treehouse, you entrust us with their care and the responsibility of finding them a new, loving home. We ensure that the bird receives everything needed during their stay, including proper care, daily socialization, and interaction. Our team works diligently to match the bird with the right adopter, ensuring a smooth transition into their new life.
Important Note: At this time we are unable to accept budgies for surrender due to a high volume of requests. Budgies typically remain in our care for 6 months or longer, making it difficult to accommodate other surrendered birds and boarders. For assistance with rehoming your budgie while they remain in your care, please consider Option 2.
Care and Socialization: The bird will be cared for in our facility, receiving daily attention, interaction, and monitoring to ensure they remain healthy and well-adjusted. We aim to create a comfortable and nurturing environment during their stay.
Adoption Process: We manage the entire adoption process, including screening potential adopters and handling the transition to their new home. A modest rehoming fee is charged to the adopter to help cover the costs of the bird's care during their stay with us.
The bird must be able to pass our boarding requirements before we can take them in. This ensures their health and safety while in our care.
There is no cost to you when surrendering the bird. Mochi's Treehouse assumes all financial responsibility for the bird's care, including boarding, feeding, and any necessary medical expenses during their stay.
If you prefer to keep the bird at home while managing the rehoming process yourself, we offer assistance by increasing the bird's visibility on our website. This option allows you to retain control over interactions with potential adopters while benefiting from the exposure we provide.
Listing on Our Website: We will feature the bird on our adoptions page with their name, photo, and description. Interested adopters will contact you directly through our website, generating an email that allows you to manage the process. The bird will remain listed for two months or until adopted. It is your responsibility to notify us when the bird is adopted so we can remove the listing to prevent further applicants.
Adoption Fee: A required adoption fee must be charged to list your bird on our site, meeting our minimum standards. However, you are free to set a higher fee if you choose. We recommend keeping the fee reasonable to avoid discouraging potential adopters. The fee applies to the bird only, and any cages or accessories must be be optional for the adopter, not mandatory. You may offer these items separately for free or for purchase if the adopter is interested. It is your responsibility to collect the adoption fee directly from the adopter, and you retain the full amount. We do not charge you for this service.
As the bird will remain in your care, there are no boarding or veterinary requirements. However, we recommend ensuring that the bird is in good health and has had a recent check-up to ease any concerns potential adopters may have.
Mochi's Treehouse provides this service absolutely free. You retain full control over the rehoming process and any costs associated with the bird's care during this time.
We're here to help make the rehoming process as smooth as possible for you and your bird.
